About Martin Rumary

Martin Rumary was born in London in 1948, but in early age moved with his parents to the Mendip Hills in the heart of the Somerset countryside.

In such an environment he developed a keen interest in the surrounding wildlife, especially birds. His favourite subjects remain the familiar birds that are visitors to most of our gardens, even if we live in town.

The love of his subjects is reflected in the paintings; accurately detailed studies which capture those fleeting moments we see in the natural world.

Developing his technique whilst working as a draughtsman he now works full time as an artist. After working with other mediums, such as oil and gouache, he now paints exclusively in acrylics on board.

As well as London, he has exhibited extensively in the south-west with the Gloucestershire Trust for Nature Conservation, the Wessex Guild of Artists and the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen, among others. His works over the years have spread as far afield as the USA, Australia and Hong Kong.

In addition to limited edition prints his work is now widely available in the form of greeting cards.
